This must be done each August for the upcoming season.
DO NOT COMPLETE BEFORE AUGUST 25TH FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON (this is when the system rolls over to the new year)

Any adult on the field or in the dugout assisting with one of our teams must complete a background check and a SafeSport Course per USA Softball guidelines.

1. You may obtain an ACE certification or a regular background check.
2. You must complete one SafeSport Course (either the main course or a refresher).

ACE Coaching Program
As the National Governing Body of Softball, it is USA Softball's responsibility to ensure that our coaches achieve a certain level of understanding of what their duties as a coach of a youth softball team.

The ACE (Aspire, Challenge, Encourage) Coaching Program is a coaching education program, developed and designed to provide softball coaches of all levels an opportunity to be educated as a coach with a national softball organization.
USA Softball of Texas has not made this available yet.

Regular Background Check
The cost for a background check is about $25.  

SafeSport Course
The U.S. Center for SafeSport seeks to create a healthy, supportive environment for all participants.  Through education, resources, and training, the Center helps members of the sport community recognize, reduce and respond to misconduct in sport.

• Register (or log into) an account.
• Submit for your background check.
  
• Complete ONE SafeSport Course (if you have never taken it, you will take the main course.  If you have taken the main course, you will complete a refresher course). It is important you take one of the approved courses or it will not count towards your compliance.
• Send a screenshot showing background check and SafeSport completion with the expiration dates visible to your head coach.

New this year, USA Softball has moved to a new system for recording background checks and SafeSport.  Your background check and SafeSport is good for one full calendar year from the date you complete it.
